Enhancing Liver Insuffiency and
Postoperative Transplantation Outcomes
Mission
ELIPTO is a research program headed by Dr. François Martin Carrier, from the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (Montréal, Québec). This program is running in collaboration with many other Canadian centers.
The overarching objective of this research program is to improve the perioperative care of adult liver transplant recipients by better defining the effects of different perioperative interventions on postoperative outcomes and implement best practices.
The first milestones of the program are to define the optimal intraoperative hemodynamic and fluid management strategy that improve postoperative outcomes in adult liver transplant recipients. Ultimately, the program will unfold new research objectives on improving preoperative patient selection and physiologic optimization, transplantation in critically-ill recipients, perioperative coagulation management, patient recovery and short-term and long-term pain management.
This program is supported by the Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program (CDTRP) and the Canadian Perioperative Anesthesia Clinical Trials Group (Canadian PACT).
